About

Our Mission Statement:

"We are dedicated to providing the best instruction for each individual student; fostering confidence, self-esteem and creative thinking.  We strive to instill appreciation for dance and all art forms in our students.    We encourage each student to reach their fullest potential while here in our program, knowing that dance and the arts support many other facets of life through college and beyond!  Through dance, movement, music and motion; we promise to provide a rich, rewarding and extraordinary learning opportunity for each student!"

Nina M. Scattaregia,

Artistic Director

Nina M. Scattaregia, Director, established The Dance Factory in 1994. Since inception of the studio, more than 8,000 students have trained in our programs. We offer a diverse selection of classes for children, teens and adults. We can help you select the perfect class for yourself or your child whether choosing dance for recreational purposes, pursuing a college dance program or professional career. Our highly qualified instructors hold degrees in dance, theater and musical theater, have specialized certifications and/or have performed professionally. Our classes are child centered and taught by our caring instructors in a creative and nurturing atmosphere. The progression of levels is developmentally appropriate, challenging and fun!

The Dance Factory also offers students multiple performing and learning opportunities throughout our dance season:

  • Annual Dance Showcases - an early childhood class showcase and a separate performance for the intermediate, advanced and teen division dancers.

  • Annual Gymnastic Exhibition - Gym Zone students perform prepared skills and choreography.

  • Augusta Youth Ballet Company - Nonprofit youth ensemble for children ages 8 through 18 performs an annual fall/winter production and spring concert.

  • Competition Dance groups - We attend competitions during our regular dance season as scheduled.

  • Participation in the West Virginia State Dance Festival for intermediate/advanced students and participation in other dance festivals.

Students have the opportunity to attend master classes and workshops with guest artists throughout the fall and spring semesters and our summer arts program.

We believe that training in dance, gymnastics and the arts provides valuable life lessons for all students. Students who focus in the performing arts excel in many other areas of life and learning!

Our current students and dance alumni have received multiple scholarships, attended college dance programs and have performed professionally: Governor's School for the Arts, Point Park College Summer Dance Conservatory, West Virginia Wesleyan College/Dance Minor & Musical Theatre Major, Radford University/Dance Major, Slippery Rock University/Dance Major, University of Akron/Dance Major, School of Atlanta Ballet, Summer Dance in Livorno, Italy, Theatre of West Virginia.
